Beijing, June 5, 2010 – Flextronics was selected winner of the prestigious Golden Bee “Employee Care Category” Award that recognizes a company for protecting the rights and interests of its employees while promoting career progression opportunities. Out of approximately one thousand two hundred submissions, three hundred and fifty local & international companies were nominated, after which, Flextronics was one of the selected companies to garner the prestigious award that was organized by WTO Tribune, a publication that focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility research and training. Flextronics is the only recipient under the 'Employee Care' award category.
Flextronics was selected based on the Company’s successful partnership with a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) named Culture and Communications Center for Facilitators (CCCF). The collaboration aims to help migrant workers discover and fulfill their potential and aspirations, overcome the challenges from living and working in a new environment, and come up with effective ways for meeting their emotional and developmental needs. “Ninety percent of our employees in China are migrant talents and Flextronics is working together with CCCF to help them develop self-respect, dignity, and sense of belonging, so they can be empowered to develop means to reach their aspirations and to contribute to their communities”, said Richard Wong, Flextronics VP, Global CSR and Employee Relations. He added, “Through initiatives such as our partnership with CCCF, we're actively building communities inside and around Flextronics to ensure a sustainable environment for attracting and retaining talents. Sustainability is a critical element in facilitating our business and community development goals.”
